Michael’s – Part 2

I dropped by the local Michaels arts and crafts store, and was pleased to see they had a lot more Halloween goodies out on the shelves.  There were still a few bare spots, and the Spooky Town miniatures weren’t out yet.  But there were still a lot of things to gawk at.  I was impressed that there seemed to be less glitter and more classy Halloween decor this year.

On the crafty end of things, I found these half-pumpkins interesting.  They are half the price of a full pumpkin.

It’s clear that these are meant to be decorated to hang on a wall.  But I also bet you could carve a design into them, glue on some orange posterboard as a backing, insert a light, and have yourself a half-jackolantern for a narrow windowsill.

They have quite a bit of the laser-cut wooden art this year.

I’ve heard a rumor that Halloween is actually a children’s holiday.  I’m not sure if that’s really true, but Michael’s does have plenty of arts and crafts for the little monsters!

Even though they are in the kids crafts area, I really liked these dragon eyes.  They are about 5 inches in diameter, with a color-changing finish.  Not bad at all for a beast hiding in your bushes!
